Text messages and conversations can be valuable, and because of that, sometimes you’ll find yourself wanting to save a text message in case it gets erased from your phone. Perhaps your friend told you a funny story, or maybe your colleague sent you some important information. Whatever it is, if you want to save Facebook messages then there are a few different things that you can do. Today we are going to be showing you some of the different methods available which allow you to export, save, and print Facebook messages, so let’s jump right in.
The first method which we’re going to be showing you is the best method available. You are able to export Facebook messages using this method, save them, and print them afterward.
For this method you will be required to use Dr.Fone – iOS Data Backup & Restore, so make sure that you have downloaded and installed this program onto your computer before following the steps below.
Step #1 – Once you have the program downloaded and installed, connect your iPhone to the computer and launch Dr.Fone Toolkit for iOS.
Step #2 – After the program is open, you will be presented with all of the different features which Dr.Fone has to offer. For the following method, we are going to be using “Backup & Restore” so go ahead and click on that feature.
Step #3 – On the display which follows, you will be prompted to select any of the data types which you want to have exported. Since we want to export Facebook messages, check the “Messenger & Attachments” option. Click on “Backup” to continue.
Step #4 – Dr.Fone will now begin scanning your iPhone for all of the messenger data which is on your iPhone. Once the scan is complete, go through all of the messages which have been detected and select the ones which you’d like to export and print.
Step #5 – After selecting the ones which you want to export, click on “Export to PC” and select a file location to save them too.
Step #6 – Now, if you want to print Facebook messages too, simply check the messages which you want to have printed off and click on the small printer icon at the top-right of the program.
Once you’ve gone through this method a few times, you will realize that it is the easiest method of those which we are going to show you and it gets the job done quickly.
The next method which we’re going to show you is slightly more complex than the last method, although it is effective and will get the job done just as well.
This method is split into two parts.
In this first part of the method, we are going to show you how you can export your Facebook messages on an Android device.
Step #1 – First off, launch the Google Play Store application and download the application which is called “Message Backup for Facebook“.
Step #2 – When the app finished installing onto your device, launch it. You will now be able to view all of the conversations which are currently stored on your Android device from Facebook.
Step #3 – On the main display of the app, tap on a conversation which you want to export. You will be taken to a menu which allows you to select a certain time-scale of messages. If you want to export all of the messages from that conversation, leave the menu as it is and click “Next” to continue.
Step #4 – Next, you will be asked to name the file which is being exported. The exported file will be stored somewhere on your device (the app will show you were) and if the conversation contains more than 5,000 messages, then multiple files will be saved.
Now that we’ve shown you how to export Facebook messages, it’s time to take a look at how you can print them off if you want to.
In this second part, we will show you how to print Facebook messages on your Android device.
Step #1 – Just as you did before, launch the Google Play Store application and download the “Google Sheets” application. You will also need to download another application called “Google Cloud Print“, so go ahead and install it now.
Step #2 – Launch the “Google Sheets” app and upload the Facebook messages file which you exported using the method in part 1.
Step #3 – Next, once you’ve uploaded the file which you want to have printed, open it up using the application.
Step #4 – Using the Google Sheets menu, tap on the “Print” option.
Note: if you haven’t already set up Google Cloud Print then you will be required to go ahead and do so before you can print your Facebook messages file.
Step #5 – You will now be prompted to select the correct printer settings as well as the files printing settings, before lastly tapping on the print icon to print Facebook messages.
While this method includes two different sections and is slightly inconvenient, it gets the job done, and if you’re on an Android device, it is one of the few options which you have.
Using the next method that we’re going to show you, you are able to print your Facebook messages directly from the Facebook website.
Step #1 – First, head over to Facebook.com and log in using your email account and password.
Step #2 – Now that you’re signed in, click on the small blue arrow at the top-right of your screen, and click on the “Settings” option from the drop-down menu.
Step #3 – From this page, you will be able to manage the back-end of your account completely. For this method, click on the “General” option using the menu on the left.
Step #4 – At the bottom of options which appear, click on the “Download a copy” button.
Step #5 – A new window will open up, and you will be prompted to click on “Start My Archive”, so go ahead and do so now.
Step #6 – You will then be asked to enter your Facebook password and once you’ve done that, click on “Submit”.
Step #7 – Another popup window will appear. Click on “Start My Archive” and lastly, click on the “Okay” button.
Note: after this step, you may have to wait a while before Facebook email you and notify you that your download request has been accepted.
Step #8 – Once you’ve received a link from Facebook, click on the link which is provided.
Step #9 – You will be taken to a page. Simply click on the “Download Archive” button, and a download will begin which contains all of the requested Facebook data.
Step #10 – After downloading the file, you will be able to see all of your messages. Take a few minutes and extract any of those which you want to print.
Step #11 – Once you’ve extracted any of the Facebook messages which you want to print, right-click on the extracted file and click “Print”.
Step #12 – Follow the instructions which are shown and in a few short minutes, you will have successfully printed off your Facebook messages.
Given that you can do this straight from the Facebook website, for some people this may be more convenient. However, this can be a time-consuming method and may take some time to get done.
