Before you follow any of the guides below, make sure that you have Dr.Fone – iOS Transfer installed on your computer, launched, and that your iOS device has been connected using the appropriate USB cable. After your device has been detected, you’re ready to begin.
Part 1. How to Transfer Media from iOS to iTunes
Using the steps below will allow you to transfer all of the media, or certain media types, from your iOS device into your iTunes library.
Step #1 – From the main menu of Dr.Fone – iOS Transfer, click on the “Transfer Device Media to iTunes” feature at the top of the list.
Step #2 – Your device will be detected. Select the specific file types that you want to be scanned for on the connected device and click on “Start” to proceed.
Step #3 – From the following display, select the file types that you want to have transferred from iOS to iTunes, and click on “Transfer”.
Step #4 – Only the media that isn’t already stored in your iTunes library will be transferred. After a few minutes, you’ll find your iOS media copied in your iTunes library.
Part 2. How to Transfer Media from iTunes to iOS
By following the steps below, you can use Dr.Fone – iOS Transfer to selectively transfer media from your iTunes library to iOS device.
Step #1 – Click on “Transfer iTunes Media to Device” from the main menu.
Step #2 – Your iTunes library will be scanned and once the scan is complete, select the file types that you want to have transferred to your iOS device.
Step #3 – Lastly, click on the “Transfer” button and the selected iTunes data will be transferred to your iOS device.
Part 3. How to Manage Media on iOS Device
1. Restore, import media to iOS from computer
For the method below we will be showing you how to add music to your iOS device, although these steps can be easily altered for the other iOS data management features.
Step #1 – Once you have the program open, select a data type from the menu at the top of the screen. We will be using “Music” for this example.
Step #2 – You will be shown all of the data that is currently stored on your device. Click on the add icon at the top of the list followed by either “Add File” or “Add Folder”.
Step #3 – Using the file explorer that is shown, select the piece of media (or folder containing the media) that you want to have transferred. Click “OK”.
Step #4 – After a few seconds you will find the selected media on your iOS device.
2. Backup, export media to computer from iOS
The steps above help you to import media, but if you want to export media from your iOS device then follow the steps below.
Step #1 – Click on the appropriate data type from the top panel to view all of the relevant data. Again, we will use “Music” for our example.
Step #2 – Use the left menu to select a playlist and from that playlist, select all of the songs that you want to have exported to your computer.
Step #3 – Once you have them all selected, click on the export icon followed by “Export to PC”, or “Export to iTunes” if you want them to be stored in your iTunes library.
Step #4 – Select a folder to have the music saved to, click “OK”, and you will now have the music available on your computer.
