iPhone X Tips and Tricks #1 – Use Dr.Fone – Switch to Transfer Data from Old Phone to New iPhone X in One Click
One of the first things that you’ll find yourself doing when you get a new mobile phone is transferring your personal data. This isn’t the most difficult process in the world, but it can take several hours and is simply a boring and tedious task. Fortunately, you can use Dr.Fone – Switch to transfer your data, save yourself a lot of time, and get back to enjoying your new iPhone X.
Follow our short guide below to transfer your data from your old smartphone over to your iPhone X.
Step #1 – Start by downloading and installing Dr.Fone – Switch on your computer, launching it, and connecting both your old smartphone and new iPhone X.
Step #2 – From the main menu, you’ll be presented with all of the main features that Dr.Fone includes. For this method, click on “Switch“.
Step #3 – On the following display, both of your devices will be shown side-by-side. Make sure that the “Destination” device is your iPhone X.
Step #4 – Using the list of data types in the middle of the screen, select any of the data types which you want to transfer to your iPhone X.
Note: if there is currently data stored on the iPhone X which you want to have removed, check the “Clear data before copy” box below the Destination device.
Step #5 – Next, click on the “Start Transfer” button.
Step #6 – If at any moment you need to disconnect either of the devices (even though you should avoid this at all costs), click on the “Cancel” button. After a few minutes, the data will be transferred.
Out of all the iPhone X tips and tricks that we’re going to show you, this is definitely one of the most useful. You can also use Dr.Fone for managing your iOS data, but that will be the focus of another tip. The best thing about using Dr.Fone – Switch is that it is cross-platform compatible, meaning that you can transfer data between Android and iOS devices without any risk of incompatibility!
The battery percentage shown on iPhones is a great way to gauge whether or not you need to plug it in and charge it. The battery icon, while a neat design, isn’t an accurate representation of how much battery life is left. Unfortunately, this is one of the things which Apple decided to remove with the release of iPhone X – why they chose to do this; we will never know.
If you are still interested in viewing your iPhone X’s battery percentage, then you can do so by swiping down from the top-right of your device’s screen, revealing the Control Centre, and it’ll be located at the top-right. The only downside is that once you exit the Control Centre, the percentage will disappear.
There’s nothing worse than waking up after a great night of sleep, only to be faced with a loud alarm forcing you to turn it off. The problem is, if you’ve just woken up then the chances are that you’re still half asleep and you’ll struggle to turn off or silence your alarm while you wake up.
With the iPhone X Face ID feature, by simply picking up your iPhone X and looking at it, your face will be detected, and the alarm will lower the volume. This means that while you might need a loud alarm to wake you up each morning, once you’re awake, rather than turning the alarm off and going back to sleep, the lower volume will keep you awake.
This is another of the iPhone X tips and tricks which all iPhone users need to be aware of.
This is one of the things that Apple was most criticized for removing with the iPhone X – their home button. Once an iconic iPhone feature, the home button was a convenient way for iPhone users to redirect back to the main iOS menu but according to Apple, their new system is more efficient and allows for the entire front surface of the iPhone X to act as an interactable screen.
While there’s no way for you to bring back the original home button design, there is a relatively easy way to add a “virtual” home button.
Step #1 – Unlock your iPhone X and go to “Settings > General > Accessibility”, and then enable the “Assistive Touch” option.
Step #2 – Tap on any of the “Custom Actions” and set it up accordingly to create a virtual home button.
Of course, this is only vaguely similar to the original home button. However, it gets the job done, and it’s better than nothing!
Screen recording is one of the biggest features that came with the release of iOS 11 and iPhone X. It has been asked for by iPhone users for years on end, and finally, Apple has delivered. With the screen recording feature, you’re able to record your iPhone’s display without the help of any third-party software, and on top of that, you can customize the recording settings based on your needs.
Step #1 – Unlock your iPhone, tap on the “Settings” app, and go to “Control Centre > Customize Controls”.
Step #2 – A list of custom Control Centre tools will be shown. Tap on the “+” symbol next to the “Screen Recording” feature.
Step #3 – Next, go back to the main iPhone screen and swipe down to reveal the Control Centre.
Step #4 – Tap on the recording icon and a countdown will begin, giving you the chance to navigate to whatever you want to record.
Step #5 – After you’re satisfied with what you’ve recorded, simply tap on the red bar at the top of your screen or swipe down to reveal the Control Centre again, and tap on the recording icon to end it.
Step #6 – You can find all of your screen recordings in the “Photos” app and can transfer them freely as if they were regular videos.
Whether you want to record yourself playing games and upload them to the internet, or you’re recording your screen to create a tutorial for your friends or students, the built-in iOS screen recording feature is the most basic and straightforward to use option out there.
With every other iPhone, you could take a screenshot by pressing both the home and lock buttons simultaneous. But, given that Apple has removed the home button from the iPhone X’s design, you can’t use this button combination anymore.
Instead, in order to take a screenshot with your iPhone X, press the “Side Button” and “Volume Up Button” at the same time – all screenshots that you take will be saved in your photos like before.
